The Trojan Horse and the Epic Tale of Troy

The tale of the Trojan Horse and the ancient city of Troy has captivated the imaginations of people for centuries. So much so that there are movies and series made in this regard.

Tale of the Trojan War

The Trojan War was a conflict between the Greeks and the Trojans, and it lasted for ten long years, with the Greeks unable to breach the impenetrable walls of Troy. It was during this time that the Greek hero Odysseus devised a clever strategy to bring an end to the war – the creation of the Trojan Horse.

The Trojan Horse

The Trojan Horse was an enormous wooden horse constructed by the Greeks, intended as a deceitful gift to the Trojans. The Greeks, appearing to give up the fight and sail away, left the hollow wooden horse at the gates of Troy. The Trojans believed it to be a victory trophy and brought the horse within the city walls.

However, there were Greek soldiers concealed within the structure, waiting for the cover of darkness to launch a surprise attack. Under the cover of the night, the Greek warriors emerged from the Trojan Horse, opening the gates of the city for their comrades who had returned during the night. Troy was caught off guard, leading to its eventual downfall.

The arrival of the Trojan Horse within the city walls marked a turning point in the war. The Greeks, who had seemingly retreated, launched a surprise overwhelming the Trojans. The city of Troy was devastated, and its once-mighty walls crumbled under the force of the Greeks.
